Avery Williamson is a three down linebacker: Jets vs. Giants defensive snap totals Let’s take a look at Jets defensive snap totals for the Jets in last night’s preseason loss to the Giants. The first thing that jumps out to me is how Avery Williamson did not leave the field with the first team defense. Williamson was a two down linebacker last year with the Titans. The Jets’ depth at the position had some speculate he might find himself in the same role with the Jets , who have a deep group of inside linebackers. However, he remained on the field for as many snaps as Darron Lee, Jamal Adams, Morris Claiborne , and Trumaine Johnson. Those are four defenders who will rarely leave the field if healthy for the Jets. When we gave the offensive snap totals, I mentioned how ominous Chad Hansen’s low snap total seemed. I will now say the same about Lorenzo Mauldin. The 2015 third rounder only took part in 2 defensive snaps. That can’t be good for his roster chances.Full Jets-Giants defensive snap totals are below. In the first quarter of Sunday’s game, the Jaguars found a play that worked against the coverage the Jets were running. The Jets’ coverage wasn’t straight zone or man. There are some indicators that show this, but I won’t bore you with that talk. There are a few possibilities as to what coverage the Jets were running Womens Leonard Williams Jersey , but I won’t bore you with them either.I just want to take you through the key parts of the play.In the middle of the field, a Jacksonville tight end runs a route up the field, which Jamal Adams carries.Adams is shown carrying that route in the red circle. Underneath, Avery Williamson is occupied by a shallow crossing route run by Austin Seferian-Jenkins (pink). What he doesn’t recognize until it’s too late is Donte Moncrief is running another shallow crossing route into his area. Williamson is slow to pass off Seferian-Jenkins to Lee and pick up Moncrief. Adams is too far up the field to help. This turns into a nice gain for Jacksonville.Flash forward to an important third down play in the second quarter. Take a guess at to what happens.Again the Jaguars have a route in the middle of the field that carries a Jets cover guy up the field. Instead of a safety in Jamal Adams Womens Darron Lee Jersey , this time it is a slot corner in Buster Skrine.Once again, there is a shallow cross occupying a defender (pink). Donte Moncrief is the receiver. Darron Lee is the defender. Once again there is another cross into the occupied defender’s area (yellow). T.J. Yeldon is running the route.Lee notices it too late, and by the time he passes off Moncrief to Avery Williamson, Yeldon is wide open. Skrine is also in no position to make a play. The Jaguars got a touchdown out of this one. There’s blame to go around here. This is not very good execution by the Jets. The linebackers didn’t recognize or communicate well. The team also blew opportunities to make tackles after the catch to limit the damage either because defenders whiffed or got themselves out of position. The Jaguars coaching staff also deserves a tip of the cap. They found something that worked against a coverage and went back to it in a key spot. There is an equal but opposite reaction here as well. It is one thing to be beaten once. When the defense runs a coverage a second time and gets beaten by the exact same concept Womens Jason Myers Jersey , the playcalling becomes fair game for criticism. It also is worth noting that this appears to be a complex coverage. Different players over two plays showed an inability to execute it. If your players aren’t able to run a play successfully, should it really be in the game plan?

The Seattle Seahawks were roundly criticized for drafting a running back in the first round this year (including by me Youth Michael Dickson Jersey , but not for lack of need) and yet Friday’s news is another check mark in the “Pros” column for Pete Carroll going out and grabbing Rashaad Penny: running back Chris Carson is questionable to play against the LA Chargers on Sunday.Carroll noted that he expects Carson to play but he added, “We’ve just got to make sure on game day that he’s okay. If not, we’ll go with the other guys and move forward.”Carson missed 12 games during his rookie campaign with a broken ankle and sat out in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals with a hip injury. That week the Seahawks still rushed for 171 yards, including 101 and two touchdowns by Mike Davis. Penny was given nine carries and gained 49 yards. Carson seems to me to be the best back among the three right now, but Seattle was not much worse for the wear with the backups in Arizona and I wouldn’t expect a much different case at home vs the Chargers. (Hence why I would not use a first round pick on a back usually.)Also listed as questionable were strong safety Bradley McDougald and outside linebacker K.J. Wright, but Carroll says both were resting and will play against LA.Carson’s three 100-yard games rank as the second-most in the NFL this season (tied with Ezekiel Elliott, and one fewer than James Conner and Todd Gurley) despite him only playing in six games. The Seahawks are the only team in the NFL to have two different players gain 100 rushing yards in a game this season.FieldGulls FanPulse: Confidence in Seahawks plummeting among fans The Seattle Seahawks dropped to 0-2 on Monday night following a loss to the re-designed Chicago Bears. That loss, coupled with a tough Week 1 matchup against the Broncos in Denver , has more than half of FanPulse voters thinking that the Seahawks need their own re-design.After headed into the season with 89% of FanPulse voters saying they were confident in the direction of the franchise, that figure now stands at just 45% following Monday’s loss. Basically half of Seattle’s optimistic fanbase has turned to the other side.Much like his predecessor Darrell Bevell, much of the disdain has been directed at offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. While I think those questions about Schottenheimer are warranted, much less is said about the responsibility that needs to fall on the shoulders of Pete Carroll, John Schneider (though I’d say Schneider gets way more flak than Carroll), and the execution by the players on offense besides Russell Wilson. Not that Wilson is innocent, but he gets a ton of blame and less seems to be said about those around him, save for right tackle Germain Ifedi.I don’t think the rest of the offensive line or skill players are off the hook. Who do you feel more positively about today than you did two weeks ago? Will Dissly Youth Rashaad Penny Jersey , for sure. Tyler Lockett has played reasonably well given the absence of Doug Baldwin. And on offense, that might be just about it. I want to say Chris Carson, but he can’t stay on the field.Whatever the case, fans are losing hope and wanting more changes it would seem, but we’ve also seen how fickle the fan can be ... it’s been two games. Two road games. Two games that were winnable in the fourth quarter. One game without Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright. Virtually two games without Baldwin. Two games using a cornerback who was third or de facto “fourth” on the depth chart. The Seahawks now have two winnable games ahead. A home date against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and a road trip to Arizona to face the Cardinals a week later. Let’s check in on FanPulse confidence among Cowboys fans:Dallas fans went from 85% confidence headed into the season, to 22% following their Week 1 loss to the Carolina Panthers. How’s that for fickle? A week later and they’re back up a little bit following a win over the New York Giants.Oddly enough, Cardinals fans were at a whopping 93% headed into the season and that number is now at ... 3%. Yes, things could be worse. At least YouthEarl Thomas III Jersey , in terms of fan confidence. If you’d like to get in on the voting, signups are below. NEW YORK (AP) — One of the few teams to have much success against Jacob deGrom all year has been the last-place Miami Marlins.Go figure. In his latest hard-luck loss during a record-setting season Juan Lagares Jersey , deGrom was outpitched by Jose Urena as the Marlins beat the New York Mets 5-3 on Tuesday night.“These guys, they want to score for him so bad, you can see it,” Mets manager Mickey Callaway said. “Unfortunately, we just haven’t done that very much.”Locked in a compelling race for the NL Cy Young Award despite his pedestrian record, deGrom (8-9) gave up only Lewis Brinson’s two-run double in seven stellar innings. The right-hander allowed three hits and struck out nine , his major league-low ERA climbing just a tick from 1.68 to 1.71.Even still, he fell to 0-2 in four starts against Miami (57-86), which has won three of those games.“You just have to scrap for your hits,” manager Don Mattingly said. “We just hang in there. I think the games we’ve been able to beat him, I think our starters have been good.”Urena (6-12) permitted one run and four hits in 6 1/3 innings for the Marlins, who were rained out the previous two days. He is 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA in his last four starts , and 3-0 with a 0.98 ERA in three career starts at Citi Field. After his outing was pushed back two days because of rain, deGrom held his opponent under four runs for the 26th straight start — breaking a big league single-season mark set by King Cole in 1910 with the Chicago Cubs.“I wasn’t as comfortable as I normally am. What was I at, eight days or so?” deGrom said. “To go that long without being on the mound, I felt a little off. But I was able to kind of correct myself as the game went on.”In a recurring theme, however, the Mets didn’t provide much help. All they could muster at the plate was Michael Conforto’s solo homer off Urena and Kevin Plawecki’s two-run shot against Drew Steckenrider with two outs in the ninth.Conforto has homered in three consecutive games for the first time in his career.JT Riddle came off the bench and homered into the second deck in right field in his first at-bat for Miami since returning from a sore left wrist.“Those two rainouts really helped. Got me two extra days to rest,” he said. “It felt really good, especially being off a week now.”After missing five games, Riddle connected in the eighth against reliever Anthony Swarzak, who made his first major league appearance since Aug. 3. The right-hander was recently activated from the disabled list after missing time with shoulder inflammation.Miami got three straight hits off Robert Gsellman to start the ninth, including an RBI triple by Brian Anderson and Derek Dietrich’s run-scoring double.A resurgent Brinson doubled off the center-field fence with two outs in the fourth. After that, deGrom set down his final 10 batters and finished the night with 239 strikeouts Noah Syndergaard Jersey , equaling the career high he set last season.“I think you kind of understand that you’re only going to have a couple opportunities off a guy like him,” Anderson said. “Usually it’s one or two a game. And he’s really good at shutting down those opportunities. I think with runners in scoring position, guys are hitting under .100 off of him. Having a guy like Lewis come in there and get that hit against him, and with two strikes, really helped our morale and really got us going there.”Mets third baseman Todd Frazier was ejected after the sixth by plate umpire Dan Bellino.MAKING STRIDESBrinson is batting .400 (12 for 30) with a homer, three doubles and six RBIs since coming off the disabled list Sept. 1. He has upped his season average to .206.TRAINER’S ROOMMarlins: RHP Dan Straily (strained left oblique) felt discomfort while throwing for the first time since leaving his last start. He could miss the rest of the season, Mattingly said.Mets: 3B David Wright took live batting practice on the field as the Mets’ captain tries to complete his comeback from a string of debilitating injuries.UP NEXTA single-admission doubleheader Wednesday to make up Monday’s rainout. RHP Trevor Richards (3-8, 4.73 ERA) and RHP Jeff Brigham (0-1, 9.00) are the scheduled Miami starters, with RHP Zack Wheeler (10-7, 3.39) and LHP Jason Vargas (5-9, 6.75) set to go for the Mets. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Another year , another World Series celebration at Dodger Stadium by a team that wasn’t the Dodgers. It was almost too much to take for Los Angeles fans who watched the Boston Red Sox take the series in five games Sunday by winning 5-1, the same score of the Houston Astros‘ series-clinching win a year earlier.“It sucks a lot,” said fan Brian Beck, who sat in the stands through both the Red Sox and the Astros’ celebrations. “It’s one of the worst experiences as a fan ever.”The locals have now gone three decades without a World Series title, a span where other LA teams including the NBA’s Lakers and the NHL’s Kings have won multiple championships.Dodgers fan Glenda Morales looked dejected as she walked out of the stadium with her daughter, but insisted the feeling would pass, and so would the long championship drought.“I’m not hopeless, I’m hopeful,” Morales said. “It’ll happen.”Fans held on to a sliver of hope when Sunday began, with Clayton Kershaw, long the Dodgers’ best pitcher and a widely beloved figure in Southern California, on the mound for Game 5.It didn’t last long as Kershaw gave up a two-run home run in the top of the first inning Michael Conforto Jersey , and the Red Sox took a lead they would never give back. The stadium’s many Boston fans, including famous ones such as Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, sounded as loud as a home crowd by the final innings.Dodgers fans stood and shouted for a rally one last time in the eighth inning when down 5-1, but many headed to the exits once it ended. Some stayed until the bitter end, and after.“We want a full dose of disappointment to fuel our rage against the people responsible for not getting us through the series,” said Scott White. He suggested that Mike Scioscia, a former Dodger who recently stepped down as manager of the Angels, might be brought in to turn things around.“He needs to come back home and teach these guys how to play Dodger baseball,” White said.White said he feared his Dodgers were turning into the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, who went to the Super Bowl for four straight years in the 1990s and came away with zero championships.Despite the sad scene on the field, many in Dodger blue said they didn’t regret coming.Beck said while watching the loss was one of his least favorite experiences, being at the World Series with his sons was one of his best.Chris Ellis , a Dodgers fan who lives in Vancouver, Canada, flew down for Saturday and Sunday night’s games, both rough losses. Yet he said he had no regrets.“We lost to the Red Sox. So we lost to the best,” Ellis said. “It’s sports. You win, you lose. But the World Series is a bucket-list thing.”

Broncos vs. Jets injury update: RT Jared Veldheer is out; CB Trumaine Johnson out The Denver Broncos (2-2) are a little banged up heading into the road contest against the New York Jets (1-3) on Sunday.“We’ve got one guy out for the game and that’s Jared Veldheer Authentic Adam Gotsis Jersey ,” Head Coach Vance Joseph said on Friday. “We’ve got one guy doubtful, Marquette King, and we’ve got two questionable, Adam Gotsis and Todd Davis.”They could be starting a punter who has never played in an NFL game in Colby Wadman who was signed to the Broncos practice squad just over a week ago. The Broncos defense could also take a hit to their run stopping ability if one or both Gotsis and Davis are out as well.On the Jets side of things, the big loss for them will be cornerback Trumaine Johnson, which could open things up for Case Keenum in the passing game. Kareem Hunt spent the first few weeks of the season doing what he called "dirty work," which mostly amounted to carrying the ball late in games as the Kansas City Chiefs tried to run out the clock. The Chiefs didn't really need the NFL's reigning rushing champ the way Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the offense was sizzling. So there he was, one of the breakout stars of last season, getting brutally tough yards when the entire opposing defense was stacking the box.He never complained. Never seemed down.In fact, the second-year pro insisted all along that he would have his opportunities, once the rest of the league decided they'd better pay attention to the Chiefs' passing game. And lo and behold, that's exactly what has happened the past few weeks, when the Chiefs have been able to pry open massive holes for him in the running game and Mahomes has been able to find him in the passing game."We don't count touches," Chiefs offensive lineman Cam Erving said. "We have a lot of weapons and when a team schemes for one thing, we have another one to pop it back with. Kareem has just done a great job of being patient and waiting for those moments to come."He grabs those moments," Erving added, "and he finishes."He certainly lets the woebegone defender that gets in his way know Youth Derek Wolfe Jersey , too. Rarely does the bruising, Walter Payton-esque running back go down on first contact. Often not second or third.Take his most impressive run last week against Cincinnati, when he appeared to be bottled up near the sideline. Hunt made a nifty spin move to shake one defender, darted to his left to avoid a few more and then hurdled — without getting any head of steam — yet another before finally going down.It was the biggest highlight on a night Hunt scored three touchdowns."I probably made the wrong read," Mahomes said of the run-pass option, "and then I handed it to him. It should've been a tackle for a loss and then he broke a tackle and jumped over a dude. This is a very talented (Bengals) defense who have a lot of guys who are built to stop the run, and it just speaks to the strength and the power he has when he runs the football."Those raw physical skills have been on display the past four weeks, beginning with a win in Denver when Hunt ran for 121 yards and a touchdown and caught three more passes for 54 yards. He followed up with a touchdown against Jacksonville, had 185 yards from scrimmage and another score against New England, and had 86 yards rushing and three touchdowns total against Cincinnati."(Hunt) makes it all go because you can't simply ignore the guy," said Broncos coach Vance Joseph, whose team gets another shot Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. "Our first game, he made most of the big plays, honestly. He's a guy that runs downhill and he catches the ball in the pass game."In other words, he's the perfect running back for a system that is predicated on misdirection."He did well last year, too," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said , "but he's playing as well as any running back in the National Football League. He's not only running the ball like crazy, he's also catching the football. I actually took him out before he broke the 100-yard mark last week."He's punishing people right now," Reid added with a grin, "and it's something to watch."Yet just like Hunt took his relative lack of production the first few weeks in stride, he's done just the same with his sudden surge of success. He heaped praise on his offense line, showered Mahomes and the rest of the offense with accolades and complemented his coaches on getting him the ball."I'm just a guy who is going to come in and try my best to make every effort possible to score a touchdown," he said. "It's not even about me. It's about the team winning. Whatever I can do to help the team win, I'm a team guy. I'm down to do whatever."Hunt did finally let his bravado show a little when Chiefs tight end Demetrius Harris, who was dressing nearby, described him as "a bull." Hunt thought for a moment and decided that was a pretty good label, then he realized that bulls don't really carry much workload."I like to be an ox, too," he said.Notes: Free safety Daniel Sorensen (broken leg) returned to practice Wednesday. He'd been on the IR since early in training camp and is eligible to play in games beginning Week 8. ... Strong safety Eric Berry (heel), Linebacker Justin Houston (hamstring) and center Mitch Morse (concussion) did not practice. ... Linebacker Terrance Smith tore his ACL on a kick return against Cincinnati, Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder said. He went on IR earlier this week.

  • Bradley Chubb JerseyDatum07.03.2019 04:18

When you look at the head-to-head record of the Broncos against the Cardinals Womens Bradley Chubb Jersey , you’ll see that with just one exception, Denver has owned the Arizona/St. Louis/Chicago team known for wearing red. That one loss? You can credit it to the tragic season of 2010, but not to often vilified clown, Josh McDaniels. Although, McDaniels started 2010 as head coach, just 6 days before the match-up at University of Phoenix stadium the Broncos deactivated his keycard and took away his headset. With McDaniels gone and Kyle Orton inexplicably ensconced as the starter of the 3-10 Denver Broncos, head coaching duties were handed to running backs coach, Eric Studesville. Tim Tebow was still marinating on the bench and the rushing attack was anchored by Lance Ball and Knowshon Moreno. The 4-9 Arizona Cardinals weren’t having the greatest season themselves. This late-season game would be the first career start for their 3rd string quarterback, John Skelton. For all intents and purposes, this was one the Denver Broncos should have won. Instead, this one would go down as the first time in history the Cardinals beat the Denver Broncos. The Broncos took an early lead with a Steven Hauschka field goal (kicker Matt Prater didn’t play and would be placed on IR in the following weeks due to a nagging groin injury). Arizona answered with a Jay Feely field goal... but ol’ Jay was just getting warmed up. This is a game that I’m sure Feeley will never forget, because on this December day in Arizona, he would single-handedly beat the Denver Broncos. On a chip shot field goal attempt Authentic Phillip Lindsay Jersey , Feely faked and ran 5-yards for the only touchdown of his career. He also kicked the extra point just moments later. It would be three more Jay Feely field goals before Denver could impotently respond with another Hauschka field goal. With just over 6:00 left in the 4th quarter and down 22-6, Cardinals running back Tim Hightower finally scored the game’s first offensive touchdown. After an exhausting day of getting their butt handed to them by a kicker, the Broncos got into the end zone on 1-yard Knowshon Moreno plunge. Time was running down and the Cardinals already had the game in-hand, but the juggernaut that was the 2010 Arizona Cardinals would not be stopped! Tim Hightower ripped off a 35-yard touchdown run with 3:00 to go in the 4th. Then, typical of the 2010 Denver Broncos, they couldn’t get out of their own way and just take the loss they had earned. To really demonstrate just how awful the team was, a Kyle Orton pass intended for Lance Ball was intercepted and returned 39-yards before being knocked loose by Ball, only to have Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett recover and carry it the rest of the way for Arizona’s final touchdown (Jay Feely kicked the extra point). Final score, 43-13, Cardinals. This was the only time in Broncos history Denver has lost to the Cardinals. Denver scored 13-points and Cardinals kicker Jay Feely scored 22. Receivers Eric Decker and Eddie Royal fumbled, but the truly remarkable bit of trivia that came out of this game was Kyle Orton’s stat line. He threw 3 interceptions, was 19 of 41 attempts for just 166-yards, and lost a fumble. While I want to say that Thursday’s game against the Cardinals could never be as bad as that game back in 2010 , I’m not convinced. There are too many parallels to ignore. Like Studesville, Vance Joseph won’t be retained in a head coaching capacity next year. Case Keenum, I would argue, is better than Orton, but their ability to score points and take command of a game are crushingly similar. Both the Cardinals and Broncos are reeling. Like the 2010 match-up, the Broncos should win with one, but they also should have beaten the Jets. There is a real chance that Denver could go out and allow the Cardinals to double their win total against the Broncos. Here’s hoping that doesn’t happen. In the spring of 2018 John Elway and the Broncos knew they needed fresh blood at the quarterback position. Case Keenum was the apple of their eye (or at least the consolation when Kirk Cousins showed no interest). Then come draft day, the Broncos took most expert’s top defensive player in Bradley Chubb at 5. In so doing Elway elected to pass on quarterbacks Josh Rosen, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. They had no chance at Baker Mayfield, who went first overall, and never managed a deal with the Giants to jump above the Jets for Sam Darnold. A quick look at their respective Sundays:Josh Rosen went 10 of 25 for 170 yards and a touchdown while helping the Cardinals convert two of their 12 third downs. He finished with a QBR of 33.4Josh Allen went 10/19 for 82 yards, no touchdowns and a pick. He also ran four times for 19 yards and a touchdown. He had a QBR of 35.5 while the Bills converted four of 13 third downs as well as two of three fourth downs.Sam Darnold went 10/22 for 198 yards, three touchdowns and one pick. The rookie had a 58.0 QBR , while the Jets converted six of 13 third downs.Case Keenum went 35/51 for 377 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. The Broncos converted four of 14 third downs. He had a QBR of 28.6. The question I’m left with once again this Tuesday is why the Broncos coaching staff refuses to buoy Keenum with the elite ground game? Before Sunday Denver had the second best rushing DVOA by FootballOutsiders. The rookie running backs averaged more than five yards a carry Sunday but in a 3rd quarter when time is not yet a critical factor? Philip Lindsay had two carries. Royce Freeman? 0. Vance Joseph is left hoping that some injury luck will work in their favor and the Broncos will find a way to steal enough wins to squeak in. That may be enough to save his job. Maybe.3 winners, 8 losers in Denver Broncos 34-16 road loss to New York Jets - Mile High ReportThe Jets and Broncos are both sitting at 2-3. This year they’re likely headed for similar finishes. That’s where the similarities probably end though. One team has a top tier defense and very young rookie quarterback who is growing as he goes. The other team has a 30-year old journeyman and aging core. They’re heading in different directions because Elway chose to patch a hole and in order to chase the playoffs this year.Anyone who follows the Broncos knows that Mike Klis basically runs PR for the team, so this tweet is a bit of a weird. They meant left, obviously, but if Bolles can’t go it means Elijah Wilkinson steps into action for Sunday’s game with the Rams. Billy Turner is already playing for Jared Veldheer. Denver Broncos need to fire Vance Joseph - Mile High ReportI’ve been pretty critical of the Joseph hire from the start, but it’s too soon to move on from Vance Joseph. Not because he’ll figure it out and the Denver will stumble into the dance after a comet strikes Kansas City. Elway would be mistaken to give the coach his walking papers now because the Broncos are all of 5 games into a 16 game schedule. All the move would do now would throw extra work onto the other coaches and potentially shock the roster. It’s a short term feel good move for a longer term issue. Look ahead to Los Angeles. The Cowboys defensive lineman hit Russell Wilson as the Seahawks quarterback released the ball. The 15-yard penalty gave Seattle a first down on a third-down incompletion intended for Brandon Marshall. It appeared similar to Clay Matthews‘ hit on Alex Smith earlier Sunday.鈥淭yrone Crawford comes in Authentic Germain Ifedi Jersey , makes a textbook play, and these are game-changing penalties,” Aikman said. “I鈥檓 tired of talking about it.鈥漈he NFL used Matthews’ controversial hit on Kirk Cousins last week — as well as one from Eric Kendricks on Aaron Rodgers — as a “teaching tool” for teams. “The league just can’t seem to get out of its own way,” Aikman continued.Crawford left the game with a right arm injury but returned after adding a support sleeve to his arm.Earl Thomas has a nifty interception of Dak Prescott, but officials ruled it an incomplete pass on the field to negate a return by the Seahawks safety. The Seahawks ended up punting.Neither team has done much on offense, and it remains 0-0 late in the first quarter. On the Seahawks, Mike Davis stands out about as much as a person named “Mike Davis” would. That’s not meant to be a dig on him or people named “Mike Davis” but it’s just one of those super common first name, super common last name combinations. On the field, Davis has had his moments but hasn’t proven to be starter caliber like Chris Carson nor does he have the first round pedigree of Rashaad Penny. Because of that, and because of the fungibility at the running back position where C.J. Anderson could potentially be a Super Bowl MVP in 10 days, it seems as though Seattle will let Davis, an unrestricted free agent, test the market. What will the market think of him?Davis was actually a fourth round pick out of South Carolina in 2015, which is fairly high for a running back given the sheer amount of options. He was a two-year starter for the Gamecocks, rushing for 2,165 yards Youth Earl Thomas III Jersey , 20 touchdowns, and 5.4 yards per carry during his sophomore and junior seasons. The San Francisco 49ers drafted him (having also taken his former teammate Marcus Lattimore as a fourth round running back just two years earlier) and put him in the competition with Carlos Hyde during Jim Tomsula’s lone season. Davis rushed 35 times for just 58 yards and went on injured reserve with a hand injury after only six games. In year two, now under Chip Kelly, he played in eight games and carried it 19 times for 50 yards. He was then waived in May of 2017 and picked up by the Seahawks. Pete Carroll cut Davis but kept him on the practice squad, activating him in November as Seattle had the worst RB duo in NFL history — or at least that’s how I’ll always remember it.Given an opportunity to be “anyone but Eddie Lacy,” Davis rushed 68 times for 240 yards. His highlight day perhaps being a 64-rushing, 37-receiving day in a big win over the soon-to-be-champion Philadelphia Eagles. But FootballOutsiders barely liked him more than Lacy and Thomas Rawls, the two lowest-rated backs in the NFL in 2017 who were under 100 carries. Davis was -38 DYAR and -29.2% in DVOA.Negative is bad. However, in 2018, Davis was given perhaps a bit better blocking and was a complement to a much better running back in Carson. He carried it 112 times for 514 yards, including a 101-yard, two-touchdown day against the Arizona Cardinals. He averaged 4.6 yards per carry and over the final eight games, was over 5 yards per carry. He also finished 19th in DYAR, just six spots behind Carson, and his success rate was actually better than Carson’s. In certain situations, Davis has proven to be a valuable back , and perhaps as a starter he could produce at a level like Alex Collins. Which is to say that he is likely expendable for Seattle and not someone they are likely to regret losing if it comes to that. That being said, maybe the Seahawks will re-sign him if he can’t get significantly better money elsewhere. I can’t imagine that there will be a lot of money spent on Davis unless a team like, you guessed it, the 49ers pulls another Jerick McKinnon situation. McKinnon shockingly got $30 million from San Francisco last year, more than any other running back by a wide margin. The next range was a four-year, $19 million deal for Dion Lewis, a three-year, $15.25 million deal for Hyde, a three-year, $12 million deal for Isaiah Crowell, and a three-year, $9.75 million deal for Rex Burkhead. Crowell had 737 career carries when he hit the market and was actually pretty decent at times. Hyde had 655 carries. Lewis was at 329, but also known as a good receiver. Mike Davis is currently at 234. Burkhead had only 151 career carries at signing but was actually re-signing with the Patriots so they knew what they were getting and what they wanted. I’ll be shocked if the Seahawks feel they need to re-sign Davis to a multi-year deal when they’ve just drafted Penny and still have Carson.Instead, I think teams are probably looking to spend $1-2 million for one year for a player like Davis. His “competition” on the market looks to be Le’Veon Bell, Kareem Hunt, Tevin Coleman Kam Chancellor Jersey , Mark Ingram, Jay Ajayi, T.J. Yeldon, Anderson, Spencer Ware, Marshawn Lynch, Adrian Peterson, Latavius Murray, Alfred Blue, Alfred Morris, Ameer Abdullah, Ty Montgomery, and so on. There are options. If Davis does find a good situation and does end up starting, then maybe that one-year deal this year does become a three-year deal next year. With the Seahawks, that is unlikely to happen.

Jamarco Jones has significant ankle injury Seattle Seahawks rookie tackle Jamarco Jones Authentic Doug Baldwin Jersey , who has many admirers and was thought to be in the competition to start at right tackle, will likely miss considerable time after suffering a “serious, high ankle sprain-plus” according to Pete Carroll. Jones suffered the injury in Thursday’s preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Here are some more details on a high ankle sprain, specifically a more serious one (assuming this is what the “plus” stands for):A high ankle sprain could be 4-6 weeks of recovery, which could mean that Jones misses the first month of the season. However Womens Earl Thomas III Jersey , as a rookie who likely needs this precious development time, it’s difficult to imagine Jones contributing this season if he misses the next two months. The Seahawks could place him on the physically unable to perform list, which gives him a chance to return midseason, but he may also be looking at a trip to injured reserve. Week 7 of the NFL season has the New York Jets coming off a big win over the Indianapolis Colts. After a three game losing streak the Jets have righted the ship and climbed back to a .500 record and contention in the AFC East. Today they look to make it three in a row against a very tough Minnesota Vikings team. If the Jets are to make a playoff run they need to take care of business at home against a few tough teams like this. The Vikings come into the game tied for second in the NFC North with a 3-2-1 record. The Jets will see old friend Sheldon Richardson in this game Cheap Jamal Adams Jersey , as well as 2018 free agent target Kirk Cousins, who used the Jets as leverage to obtain the offer he really wanted with the Vikings. On offense the Vikings are reliant on the passing game, featuring one of the league’s best pass catching duos in Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. The Vikings ground game has been mostly missing in action, as second year running back Dalvin Cook has been injured much of the season and will be out for this game. The Vikings defense has only been average so far this year; however, it is a very talented group which is fully capable of shutting opponents down. The Jets come into the game hurting. Starting cornerbacks Trumaine Johnson and Buster Skrine will miss the game with injuries, leaving cornerbacks Darryl Roberts and rookie Parry Nickerson the unenviable task of covering the Vikings’ outstanding receivers in their stead. On offense the Jets will be missing receivers Quincy Enunwa, who is hurt, and Terrelle Pryor, who was recently cut Cheap Isaiah Crowell Jersey , leaving only Jermaine Kearse and Robby Anderson as established NFL receivers for rookie quarterback Sam Darnold to throw to. The weather will be extremely blustery, perhaps forcing the two teams to rely on the ground game, which may favor the Jets. It’s the Jets and the Vikings going at it in a windy MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Leave your comments in the section cleverly marked “comments” below. Enjoy the game everybody.NY Jets Spotlight: Leonard Williams Welcome to the Spotlight. Here we spotlight one key player for each game of the season, hopefully putting a different player in the spotlight each week. Today’s player in the spotlight is New York Jets defensive end Leonard Williams.Leonard Williams is a 24 year old, 6’ 5”, 300 pound defensive lineman out of USC. Williams was originally drafted by the Jets with the 6th overall selection in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft. With good quickness and agility, great explosiveness, and outstanding leverage and strength , Williams was widely considered at the time the best player in the 2015 draft. After a promising rookie year Williams really blossomed in his second season. He registered career highs of 68 tackles, 7 sacks, 11 tackles for loss and 2 forced fumbles in a 2016 Pro Bowl campaign. It was an outstanding sophomore year. Unfortunately Williams has been unable to repeat that brilliance since. In 2017 his tackles declined to a career low of 47, and he registered just 2 sacks and 3 tackles for loss. 2018 has thus far been more of the same, with few impact plays. In 2018 Williams is on track for4 sacks and what would be a career low of 44 tackles; on the bright side he is on track for a career high of 16 tackles for loss.Recently Wiliams’ slide has seemed to intensify. Over his first 42 games Williams recorded 6 or more tackles 10 times; over his last 10 games he has done it just once. Over his first 42 games Wiliams recorded 11.5 sacks; in his last 10 games he has just 1.5. Over his first 42 games Williams averaged 4.0 tackles per game; in his last 10 games he’s averaging 2.2.Over his first 42 games Williams did not play a single game without registering a tackle; in his last 10 games Williams has been shut out 4 times. In short, Williams has gone from a Pro Bowl player to just another solid guy on the defensive line, a guy who rarely makes impact plays and increasingly rarely even makes tackles. If the Jets are to turn around their 2018 season, Leonard Williams is one of the key guys who will need to step up his play. Today’s game against the Denver Broncos presents a good time to begin the turnaround. The key to stopping the Broncos is simple: shut down the run and force quarterback Case Keenum to beat you through the air. The Broncos ground game is led by two outstanding rookies in Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman, and an offensive line that has done a nice job opening holes for them. No team has held the Broncos under 120 yards rushing this season. If the Jets are to have a a chance in this game , a big part of the puzzle will be the Jets defensive front limiting the Broncos ground game. As the Jets best player on that defensive front, it will be incumbent upon Leonard Williams to lead the defensive attack and shut down the talented Broncos running backs. Now would be a great time for Leonard Williams to break out of his slump and take over the game on the defensive side of the ball. Consistently blowing up his assignment in the run game would be huge; a sack or two when the Broncos pass would also help enormously. The Broncos can’t really hurt you much with their passing game under Case Keenum. They haven’t put up more than 230 yards passing, nor more than one passing touchdown, in each of their last three games. Shut down the run and you have a good chance to win. This would be a great game for Leonard Williams to set up shop in the Broncos backfield. If we see Williams and his defensive line cohorts shut down the run and put enough pressure on Keenum to disrupt the passing game then the Jets will have a good shot at winning at home against the Broncos. Williams could prove to be a pivotal player in this game if he gets his game on track. Leonard Williams, this is your time in the spotlight. Time to recapture the glory of your first two years and lead the Jets to a much needed victory at home.

Jets roster for preseason game vs. Falcons During the NFL regular season Color Rush Jason Myers Jersey , teams are only allowed to have 53 players on their active roster, and only 46 of these players may be active for a game. In the preseason the numbers balloon. Teams have 90 player on their roster, and all 90 can play. The later the Jets get into their preseason opener against the Falcons tonight, the deeper into the depth chart the team will go.Especially as we get into the second half, you probably will see some unfamiliar numbers on the field. To help you along, I am putting up the Jets’ roster for the game. You might open this up in your browser or your mobile device after the starters leave for quick reference if you want to put a name to somebody in an unfamiliar number making a play. But this chart isn’t just informative. It also looks great. So enjoy its beauty as you watch the game.UntitledNumberLastFirstPositionNumberLastFirstPosition Throughout January and February, we’ll be taking an in-depth look at some of the players the Jets have signed to futures deals since the end of the season. We continue today with a look at former CFL defensive back Tevaughn Campbell. The 25-year old Campbell is listed at 6’0” and 200 pounds and has spent the past four seasons in the CFL after having been a third round pick in the 2015 CFL draft. The Jets are the first NFL team to sign him to a contract but he’s been in mini-camp on a tryout basis for a couple of teams.BackgroundCampbell attended college at Regina, but wasn’t really regarded as a potential NFL prospect until he broke the CFL combine record by running a 4.35 in the 40-yard dash. That led to him being a third round pick in the 2015 CFL draft but also saw him attend a couple of NFL rookie camps on a tryout basis in Washington and with the Giants. At Regina, Campbell had been a two year starter at cornerback and also returned kicks and punts. He broke up 11 passes in 20 games over his three years with the Rams. After having not been offered a contract at the NFL level, Campbell returned to Canada and played four seasons in the CFL with three different teams. During that time, he played in 42 games and racked up 62 tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles. He also scored three touchdowns. However Color Rush Terrelle Pryor Sr. Jersey , Campbell - who was also a track athlete at Regina - also started playing Rugby Sevens, where he saw some success representing Canada in international tournaments in 2016 and 2017.The Jets signed Campbell to a futures deal after the season. He had also previously worked out for the Browns and Packers in December.Let’s take a closer look at what Campbell brings to the table, based on in-depth research and film study and divided into categories.MeasurablesAside from his 40-yard dash, which would have been top five at last year’s combine, albeit still slower than Jets’ draft pick Parry Nickerson, Campbell also posted impressive numbers in the vertical (38.5”) and broad jump (130”) at the CFL combine. He seems to have pretty decent size and length, but might need to build up his strength to compete with NFL-level receivers.UsageCampbell has primarily been employed as an outside cornerback, although he’s followed his man into the slot at times. Within this role, he was employed both in press coverage and off-coverage.Coverage skillsPredictably, Campbell’s speed is his most useful asset in coverage, either when running deep or when closing or recovering. You can get a sense of how he battles on this play, although he perhaps doesn’t yet show the kind of flawless technique you’d hope for from a player headed to the pros:In off-coverage he can be susceptible to slants and crossing routes at times.PhysicalityCampbell can play in a press coverage role Jamal Adams Jersey , although he is inconsistent with his jam at times and might need to build up his strength to succeed in press coverage at the NFL level. He does have an occasional grab-habit which is something he’s going to need to remove from his game:Ball skillsOver the course of his career in Canada, Campbell has shown a good ability to make plenty of plays on the ball, including four interceptions. He also broke up 11 passes in college, including a team-leading six in 2013.He is generally pretty good at running with a receiver on a deep downfield route and then locating the ball, although there were a few plays where he got beaten at the line and then couldn’t get his head turned in time. He’s shown a good ability to break up and even pick off contested catches though. On this play, he read and jumped the route for a pick-six, although he almost dropped it:Run defenseCanadian Football is a more expansive game than the NFL due to the bigger fields and some of the rules, including the use of three downs instead of four. As a result, an outside cornerback will rarely play much of a role in run defense so Campbell unsurprisingly doesn’t contribute much in this area. Here’s an example of a play where Campbell (wearing #32 here) gets blocked off the line initially, causing him to lose contain and then, although he makes the tackle, he is dragged past the first down marker:TacklingCampbell also doesn’t show much as a tackler , often shying away from contact or throwing a shoulder at the ball carrier with poor technique. Here’s an example of a play where he was knocked off a tackle in the open field:The opposing team’s offense seemed to deliberately exploit that weakness here on a short yardage play. Campbell had a chance to stop this short of the marker but seemed too tentative as if he was nervous about missing the tackle:Campbell has forced two fumbles at the CFL level though.BlitzingCampbell hasn’t blitzed very often but has some good burst off the edge and did have one sack in college and this sack at the CFL level:Special teamsSpecial teams will be the main place where Campbell can make an impression as anyone with sub-4.4 speed has a chance to make an impact.Campbell has nine special teams tackles in his CFL career and has also scored touchdowns on a blocked field goal and a blocked punt.At Regina, he set school records by averaging 21.2 yards per kickoff return and 10.5 yards per punt return. He had one of each that went for more than 70 yards, but no touchdowns.Instincts/IntelligenceOne of Campbell’s coaches in Canada referred to him as “cerebral” and praised his ability to handle assignments when they were thrown at him.Although this touchdown was overturned by the replay booth, it’s a good example of Campbell being confused by the bunching of receivers and his momentary hesitation caused him to lose a leverage advantage:With his return experience and his time playing Rugby Sevens, his open field running instincts are impressive so he’s a threat with the ball.AttitudeOn the field, Campbell can be a demonstrative player, but he seems to be popular and his teammates have praised his work ethic in the past.InjuriesCampbell has missed some time in college and was actually traded once in the CFL by a team whose general manager specifically stated that he had concerns about Campbell’s health. Most of his issues appear to be connected with his left shoulder, on which he had surgery in 2012. He dealt with shoulder subluxation a few years ago.Scheme FitThe Jets’ targeting of Campbell might ironically be linked to an outgoing coach. In Saskatchewan in 2016, Campbell was a teammate of Kacy Rodgers II. Rodgers - who spent preseason with the Jets last year - is the son of outgoing defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers, who might have been involved in the decision to add him to their watchlists. He’ll now have to try and impress Gregg Williams and his staff instead.ConclusionsThe Jets are obviously trying to catch lightning in a bottle with this signing and Campbell does at least bring one elite trait to the table with his speed. He’s still likely to be an extreme long-shot to make the team, but the Jets will hope he can hold up in spite of the jump in level of competition and then they might consider him coachable enough to have value as a longer-term project.

The Jaguars will start Cody Kessler at quarterback against the Colts this weekend after head coach Doug Marrone decided to move Blake Bortles to the bench.Bortles started the last 72 games for Jacksonville and signed a three-year extension this offseason after piloting the Jags offense on the way to the AFC Championship Game last season. This year has seen none of that success , however, and Bortles said that he has no one but himself to blame for his winding up on the bench.“I put myself in this position and I didn’t play good enough,” Bortles said, via “Didn’t win football games. Couldn’t find a way to get it done. And when that happens, it’s a business and everybody understands that. I don’t think there’s anything personal involved. As a quarterback, I think you have one job and that’s to win a football game. And if you don’t do that Youth Marcell Dareus Jersey , your time’s probably limited.”The next question for Bortles is whether he will remain in Jacksonville. Releasing him would leave $16.5 million in dead money on the cap in 2019 — $11.5 million if it’s designated a post-June 1 cut — and it’s clear the team has to find other options for the position before next season gets underway.Bortles knows that such decisions are on the horizon, but said his focus now is on helping Kessler while adding that he loves “playing football and would love the opportunity to play again.” It took nearly two months, but the Jacksonville Jaguars won a game, and it was in the familiar fashion of suffocating defense and neutering the offense from doing anything that could lead to turnovers, as they defeated the Indianapolis Colts 6-0 at TIAA Bank Field. With Cody Kessler taking over for the benched Blake Bortles, and with Leonard Fournette serving his one-game suspension for fighting Cheap Blake Bortles Jersey , the Jags offense was much of the same snooze fest of dump off passes and hand offs while using the play of their defense to carry them through the finish line. Kessler finished with a mediocre 18/24 150 yards passing with no touchdowns or interceptions. He did what he was asked, which is to say, turn and hand it off and don’t try anything downfield that may cost the team an opportunity. Josh Lambo was the only source of points for either team, converting both field goal attempts on the rare occasions the Jaguars moved into Colts territory. While Kessler was the story heading in, it was the return of “Sacksonville”, if only for a game , to it’s expected elite-level form on defense. After getting the doors blown off for much of the game in their last meeting in early November, the Jaguars defense pitched a shut out for their first time since October 22 of last year, ironically against the Colts. With sacks by Yannick Ngakoue, Calais Campbell, and the game sealer essentially by rookie Ronnie Harrison, and pressure seemingly in the face of Andrew Luck all game Youth Myles Jack Jersey , the defense seemed to be set on reestablishing their pride and reputation against a team that had caused talk of disarray in the locker room on that side of the ball last month. The win brings the Jags to 4-8 and potentially unmoved from their draft spot as several teams in the current Top 10 of the NFL Draft order, also won or were winning their games at the time of this article.

Bortles moves them downfield, but Rashad Greene fumbles at the Colts 30, and the game is over. What a disaster. Thanks for joining us.3:50 PM: After the defense holds, Bortles and the Jags make their way down field with more combinations of “dink and doink” offense, enough to get into range for Lambo to connect for a 55 yard field goal. It’s 29-26 Colts, with under 4 minutes remaining in the game. The defense needs a stop.3:33 PM: The offense converts a couple of third and long situations, before they succumb to one too many attempts with the down and distance against them, as Bortles is hit and pass is deflected on a 3rd & 11 play. Cooke punts and pins the Colts inside their 10 with 10 minutes left in the game.3:25 PM: INTERCEPTION! The Jags get the ball at their 36 yard line, as they were moving the ball into scoring territory, huge play.3:20 PM: The Jaguars get the ball haphazardly into field goal range Cheap Jalen Ramsey Jersey , but Lambo misses from 52 yards out, and the Colts take over.3:11 PM: The defense forces a three and out for only the second time today, thanks in part to a holding penalty on the Colts. One interesting note, Jalen Ramsey is seeing time as the single-high safety on several drives now. Also, Brandon Linder has a knee injury and had to be carted off the field earlier, he is out for the remainder of the game and I’d imagine some time after. 29-23 Colts, with 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter.3:04 PM: TOUCHDOWN! After the Jaguars convert on a fake field goal pass from Logan Cooke to James O’Shaughnessy on 4th & 3, the Jaguars metriculate the ball downfield and cash in with a 1 yard pass from Bortles to Fournette for Leonard’s second touchdown of the game. Lambo’s kick is good this time, and we have a one-score game at 29-23 Colts. Unfortunately, the defense now has to come on the field...I can’t believe I’m writing that.2:53 PM: The Jaguars have opened the second half with a substantial drive heading into Colts territory as Fournette converts a couple of 3rd and short situations. Fournette has yet to break a big run as yet, but his presence on short yardage situations has been felt. Drive has been stopped as Brandon Linder has gone down with a lower body injury and is being worked on by trainers.2:30 PM: Jacksonville gets another good kick return from DJ Chark and is able to work their way into the Colts territory Cheap Leonard Fournette Jersey , before settling for a Josh Lambo field goal. The Colts lead at half time, 29-16.2:20 PM: Thanks to multiple dumb penalties by Malik Jackson & Myles Jack respectively, the Colts drive into Jags territory again, and again Luck finds his tight end Cox for a Colts touchdown. The Jaguars defense has given up 300 yards, mostly through the air, and looks like the 2015 Jaguars. 1:46 left in the first half, and sadly we have another half of this to go.Marlon Mack takes the hand off into the end zone after another penalty gives the Colts a chance at the conversion from the 2 yard line. 29-13 Colts. It’s time to start talking Draft.2:00 PM: TOUCHDOWN! The Jaguars offense responds on the legs of Fournette, mostly thanks to a screen pass taken from the Colts 40 down inside the 5 yard line. Three tries later, 27 sticks it in for the score. However, Lambo’s kick is blocked and nearly returned for two points, but a Colts penalty negates the score. Colts lead 21-13 Cheap A. J. Ebron was more open than a Waffle House in a storm. 21-7 Crushing Colts. The defense looks completely drunk.1:38 PM: The Colts march right down the field, thanks mostly to a continuation of blown coverages by the Jaguars back end of the defense. Ebron takes a pitch 6 yards to punch it in for a Colts touchdown. The linebackers and secondary for the Jags looks absolutely lost and it’s a trend that is growing. 14-7 Colts.1:28 PM: TOUCHDOWN! After the Jags defense forces a three and out, the Jaguars take over at their own 3 yard line, and following a couple of Fournette runs and a Westbrook reception to keep the chains moving, Bortles finds the former Colt Donte Moncrief for an 80 yard touchdown pass. It was one of Blake’s best passes of the season, hitting Moncrief in stride between two defenders. 7-7 tie.1:16 PM: The Jaguars offense gets a first down thanks to a holding penalty against the Colts, but does absolutely nothing else. First and foremost, from all of us at Big Cat Country to all of you reading who are currently serving or have served our nation in the military, thank you for your service! The biggest news today will be the return of Leonard Fournette and what impact it has on the offense which has been mediocre at best since his departure. Color me skeptical that it makes a huge difference, but we’ll see. Pro Football Focus is charting everything when it comes to the 2018 NFL regular season and that includes the Week 10 matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts. So who was the cream of the crop and who did poorly on Sunday morning? Let’s check it out!OffenseSunday marked the return of Leonard Fournette for the Jaguars, and surprisingly, his biggest impact was actually as a receiver. His receiving grade of 89.5 was the third highest by a running back in Week 10 as he was targeted five times and generated a 152.9 passer rating when targeted. The highest graded player on offense for the Jaguars was tight end James O’Shaughnessy who earned an overall grade of 89.9. This was the third highest grade by a tight end this week as he dominated in the run game with a 83.5 run block grade the highest by a tight end, he also caught all five of his targets in the passing game. DefenseOn defense it was Calais Campbell who was the highest graded player for the Jaguars. His 83.1 overall grade was the eighth best by an edge defender in Week 10, and his 92.1 run defense grade ranked first. On his 20 run defense snaps Campbell had five stops and a run stop percentage of 25% both ranked first among edge defenders this week. The defense struggled to get pressure on Andrew Luck as he was only pressured on seven of his 29 dropbacks, the sixth lowest rate among quarterbacks this week. The defense was only able to get seven total pressures the whole game which is their lowest total amount of pressure in a game this season. Who else stood out to you from Week 10? Broncos vs Jets over the years Good morning Brandon Marshall Jersey , Broncos Country! One of the most amazing yet bittersweet moments came for this rivalry. Of course I speak of the AFC Championship Game in January 1999 when the Denver Broncos hosted the New York Jets at Mile High Stadium. The win catapulted the Broncos to their second of back-to-back Super Bowls but it also was the final home for John Elway. Amazing yet bittersweet. There have been some incredible moments, good and bad, between these two teams. Before the next chapter gets written today in New Jersey, let’s look back at that history, plus what to watch for courtesy of Denver’s weekly release. On the latest MHR Radio Podcast, Adam Malnati and previewed the game. Plus, you can check out my weekly segment with Michael Klahr and Mark Knudson. We talked discussed if Case Keenum was still the right move at quarterback, takeaways from the Kansas City Chiefs loss and my keys/prediction for today’s game (my segment starts at the 24:30 mark). Sunday marks the 36th regular season game between the Broncos and Jets. Denver is 19-15-1 in the series with New York, 11-8 at home and 8-7-1 on the road. The first game between the two teams was Sept. 23, 1960, at the Polo Grounds in New York w/the Titans (Jets) winning 28-24.The most recent game between the Broncos and Jets was last season with Denver winning 23-0. The Broncos are currently on a three-game winning streak, and the longest is five games — Dec. 3, 1967-Sept. 19, 1976. The longest winning streak for the Jets is three games, done twice, with the most recent coming Oct. 31 Authentic Adam Gotsis Jersey , 1965-Sept. 24, 1967.Program from first Broncos-Titans (Jets) game.Prior to last season, the last Broncos home win came on Nov. 18, 2011, when Tim Tebow won the game on a 20-yard touchdown run, 17-13. Denver started that drive on its 5-yard line with 5 minutes, 54 seconds remaining and trailing 13-10. The last Broncos home loss vs the Jets came on Oct. 24, 2010, 24-20. The last Broncos win on the road was Oct. 12, 2014, at MetLife Stadium, 31-17.In the Jets and Broncos series there have been two shutouts, the most recent coming last season. The most points (46) for Denver was on Sept. 19, 1976, in a Broncos 46-13 win at Mile High Stadium. The most points (46) for New York was on Nov. 22, 1962 Youth Derek Wolfe Jersey , in a 46-45 win at Bears Stadium. The largest margin of victory (43 points) came from that 46-3 win in 1976. The largest margin of victory (35) for the Jets came in a 45-10 win on Oct. 31, 1965, at Shea Stadium in New York. The most combined points (91) for the Jets and Broncos was from that 46-45 New York win in 1962. The fewest combined points (23), which happened twice, with the most recent being a 16-7 Jets win on Sept. 25, 1966, at Bears Stadium. The Broncos and Jets have met one time in the playoffs, the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 17, 1999, at Mile High Stadium. Denver won that game 23-10. Of course, this was the win that propelled the Broncos to their second-straight Super Bowl. It also was John Elway’s final game in Denver. The interesting tidbit about the Broncos and Jets AFC Title Game — New York’s defensive coordinator was Bill Belichick. Denver running back Terrell Davis finished with 167 yards rushing and a touchdown. What to watch Broncos linebacker Von Miller needs 1.5 sacks to tie Ken Harvey (89.0) for 47 on the NFL’s all-time sack list. Keenum needs 241 passing yards to reach 10,000 for his NFL career. He also needs one passing touchdown to reach 50 for his career. Broncos receiver Emmanuel Sanders needs 12 catches to reach 500 for his NFL career. He also needs one catch to pass Brandon Marshall (the receiver, 327 receptions) for sole possession of ninth place on the franchise’s all-time receptions list. Cornerback and returner Adam Jones needs 66 punt return yards to become the 39th player in NFL history with 2,000 punt return yards. Broncos kicker Brandon McManus needs one field goal to reach 100 for his NFL career and pass David Treadwell (99) for sole possession of fifth place on the franchise’s all-time list. McManus also has the best field goal percentage (83.2) in team history. The Broncos rookie trio of Royce Freeman, Phillip Lindsay and Courtland Sutton have combined for 678 yards from scrimmage. That represents the most by a rookie class through four games since 1984 Pittsburgh Steelers. The MHR Radio Podcast is now on iTunes, Google Play , Spotify, Acast, Stitcher, TuneIn and a few other podcast hosts. Josh Klingler of AM 610 in Kansas City joined the crew on 1st and 10 at 10 on Orange and Blue 760 ahead of the Denver Broncos matchup with the Chiefs. When all the pleasantries ended, they got into the ways that Denver could match up with KC. Klingler made the excellent point that Broncos Country has been screaming for weeks. Run the ball. The Chiefs high powered offense is scary. They score in bunches, put up huge numbers, and seem to intimidate play callers into making mistakes. He pointed out that teams have abandoned the run against the Chiefs too early in games. The blue print is obvious. Broncos Country has been begging for a game plan that is run heavy. Even the guys who work in Kansas City know that the way to beat the Chiefs is with the running attack. The Broncos are coming off a blowout of the worst team in the NFL, and have some momentum. They also have the knowledge that they were inches away from beating the Chiefs earlier in the season.Going into Arrowhead Stadium is never easy, but the opportunity to steal a win is there. If the Broncos can stick to the formula that works a win is not out of the realm of possibilities. They can’t let the Chiefs offense scare them into getting away from running the ball to set up the play action pass. Doing that allows Case Keenum to get out of the pocket and find his weapons. Whether he dumps off to Phillip Lindsay, or Emmanuel Sanders or Demaryius Thomas deep, the opportunities should be there.Of course, all that is predicated on doing the one thing that will be the hardest to do. They have to stick with the run, even if the Chiefs put points on the board quickly. Denver will not be able to run with Kansas City, but they could slow the game down enough to squeeze out a victory.

Broncos’ Jeff Heuerman is ready to make an impact Jeff Heuerman began his career with the Denver Broncos in the worst way possible. Blowing out his ACL has been difficult to overcome , but he is finally healthy. He sat down with 1st and 10 at 10 on Orange and Blue 760 to talk about how training camp has been going.Even with his knee healed, Heuerman has dealt with hamstring issues, and at the start of camp he had to take some time off. He is back and healthy now. Along with being healthy, he has also built good rapport with Case Keenum. Becoming friends with the guy who throws you the ball is, in the words of Steve Atwater White Bradley Chubb Jersey , “smart move.” Heuerman echoed a theme that has been a big part of the Denver Broncos training camp. Keenum has brought a smoothness to the offense that was missing in recent years. While that didn’t manifest itself in the game against the Vikings, the potential is there for the offense to have a good year.Heuerman’s health is huge for the Broncos. The tight end group seems strong, and has a chance to be a major part of what the offense does. As the season draws closer, look for the offense to step up big, and you can expect Heuerman to be a part of that.Bonus Listen:Matt LaCosse joins the guys to talk about how camp is going Youth Brandon Marshall Jersey , and his touchdown catch, thrown by Chad Kelly.Joseph: ‘It’s going to take three or four guys’ at running back The Denver Broncos went young at running back when they let C.J. Anderson go, but one rookie has stood above the rest this preseason in Royce Freeman. However, Head Coach Vance Joseph isn’t ready to let go of their running back by committee approach heading into the season.“I’m not overly concerned about who is the lead guy,” Joseph said on Friday. “It’s going to take three or four guys and all three or four guys can make great plays on the ball and get some nice gains.”Frankly White Matt Paradis Jersey , I think the Broncos could do a majority of it with just two guys. Both of them are rookies. Here’s how each running back has fared this preseason.Royce Freeman: 15 carries for 84 yards, 5.6 yards per attempt with 3 touchdowns. 1 reception for six yards.Devontae Booker: 9 carries for 33 yards, 3.7 yards per attempt. 1 reception for 10 yards.Phillip Lindsay: 13 carries for 70 yards, 5.4 yards per attempt. 4 receptions for 58 yards and 1 touchdown.De’Angelo Henderson: 14 carries for 50 yards, 3.6 yards per attempt. 5 receptions for 44 yards.David Williams: 14 carries for 36 yards Youth Darian Stewart Jersey , 2.6 yards per attempt. 4 receptions for 54 yards. It just seemed to me that both Freeman and Lindsay are making the plays so far. Booker is still starting the games, but at what point do you give that ‘veteran preference’ for actual production?

For most of the past 10 years Justin Britt Jersey , Richard Sherman and Doug Baldwin were inseparable. College teammates at Stanford. Pros together in Seattle. The first time facing each other as opponents in the pros was going to be noteworthy, no matter how much Sherman tried to downplay the significance before and after."It was just a regular game. It's just unfortunate we couldn't have played as well as we could have. Had too many turnovers, gave up too many plays. That's football and that's the way things have gone this season," Sherman said. The subplot to Sunday's 43-16 win by the Seattle Seahawks over the San Francisco 49ers was the return of Sherman to the city where he went from an overlooked fifth-round draft pick into becoming one of the elite cornerbacks in the NFL and a Super Bowl champion. He was a beloved star in Seattle, whose career with the Seahawks abruptly ended last March when he was released coming off an Achilles injury that ended his 2017 season early. He left Seattle, found a new home in San Francisco and knew doing so would mean twice a year seeing his former team. The first reunion was going to be the most awkward, but for the most part it went smoothly. Sherman tried to disassociate himself from the hype surrounding the game Cheap Ethan Pocic Jersey , while his former teammates 鈥?especially Baldwin 鈥?spoke emotionally about missing their friend and now opponent.Bobby Wagner seemed to be the only one that wanted to have a little fun with the situation, saying he was looking for Sherman on the sideline during his 98-yard interception return in the fourth quarter which led to a little trash talking postgame."He was just telling me that I was slow. I was telling him if I'm slow then what does that say about his team? We were just talking trash," Wagner said. "That's my brother, it was an amazing time for us to play with each other and to see him on the opposite side in the other jersey 鈥?that he looks ugly in 鈥?was cool."Sherman went through his normal pregame routine that included finding Baldwin and briefly throwing a ball back and forth as they did in Seattle. He spent several minutes talking with Baldwin while also giving a quick handshake and hug to Russell Wilson and speaking with several other Seahawks players and staff. When the game started, it was mostly a quiet day for the cornerback. Seattle didn't throw much and the first time Wilson threw his way was the third quarter when Baldwin slipped free from Sherman's tackle attempt for a 21-yard gain. He also saw Jaron Brown break free from coverage for an 18-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter when the game was already out of hand.Afterward, he made certain to exchange jerseys with Baldwin on the field."I'm not that emotional of a person when it comes to stuff like that," Sherman said. "We're obviously good friends and obviously we don't see each other during the season. We're going to see each other during the offseason. So it was good seeing him Duane Brown Jersey , good seeing his face and get to have a conversation."Sherman said he wasn't paying attention when Seattle's wide receivers recreated his famous tip play from the 2013 NFC championship game when he deflected an end zone pass by Colin Kaepernick late in the fourth quarter into the arms of Malcolm Smith. The recreation was part of Seattle's ongoing touchdown celebrations by its wide receivers and was the one Baldwin specifically wanted to do. It just happened to come in the same end zone as the original play 鈥?just this time with Baldwin in the role of Sherman in the reenactment."He didn't even know. I wanted it to be a surprise," Baldwin said. "He knows it's a tribute and he knows how the guys on this side of the ball feel. He knows how much we love him and how much we miss him."K.J. Wright undergoing knee surgery, out indefinitely Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright needs to have his knee scoped, and there is no timeline on his return per Pete Carroll. There was no known injury prior to Seattle’s preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Friday, but Carroll noted that something was “just not right” with Wright’s knee following the game.Wright has played in 107 games since being a fourth round draft pick in 2011, missing a total of five games in that time. He missed one start last season, a 42-7 loss to the LA Rams in Week 15. If Wright is unable to go by Week 1 against the Denver Broncos Cheap Shaquem Griffin Jersey , then rookie Shaquem Griffin could be making his first start in his very first NFL opportunity. With all due respect to Griffin, that figures to be a significant drop-off from Wright, a Pro Bowler in 2015 who has been a key linebacker in coverage among other things.Update: Without much information (I WANT TO EMPHASIZE WITHOUT MUCH INFORMATION), resident Twitter doctor David Chao tells me that he would hope K.J. Wright can return in “2-4 weeks” but would need to know more. He also reminds me that teams do not need to report injuries during the preseason.

The New York Giants have traded star defensive tackle Damon "Snacks" Harrison to the Detroit Lions for a draft pick.Giants coach Pat Shurmur confirmed the deal Wednesday after practice without revealing details. The teams are expected to confirm it Thursday after Harrison passes a physical.A person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press that Giants will receive a fifth-round draft pick for the soon-to-be 30-year-old Harrison Seattle Seahawks Hoodie , who was a 2016 All-Pro selection. The trade is the second for the Giants (1-6) in less than 24 hours and indicates the organization is cleaning house after four wins in the past 23 regular-season games. New York sent cornerback Eli Apple, a 2016 first-round selection, to New Orleans for two picks on Tuesday. It also waived tackle Ereck Flowers, the 2015 first-round pick, on Oct. 9."We are always concerned about improving the roster," Shurmur said. "My concern is obviously getting the team ready to play this week. We all know there are short term and long-term things that go on."Shurmur believes he has players to replace the two traded starters and he expects them to be ready. Some believe the moves indicate the Giants are starting to focus on next season."The giving up on the season narrative is really disrespectful to the guys in the locker room Cheap Customized Seattle Seahawks Jerseys ," Shurmur said. "This is the ultimate team game we need to play better as a team."Detroit coach Matt Patricia confirmed that the Lions and Giants had spoken, but he had no comment on the deal.ESPN was the first to report the trade, which comes less than a week before the league's trading deadline at 4 p.m. Tuesday.Giants quarterback Eli Manning said his only focus was getting a win against Washington on Sunday."It's our job as players to worry about this season and do our job and go prepare each week and go play the games and win football games," Manning said. "That's all we can do. We are not worried about next year or next week. We are worried about today and getting ready for Washington."Harrison joined the Giants as a free agent in 2016, signing a five-year, $46 million contract. He helped them make the playoffs in 2016. The seven-year veteran never missed a game in his 2陆 years Seahawks Frank Clark Jersey , starting 39 times. He had 31 tackles and a forced fumble this season. The Lions (3-3) have one of the NFL's worst run defenses. The line has been without end Ziggy Ansah most of the season. Former Giant Romeo Okwara has been in the rotation at end for Detroit.Detroit hosts Seattle (3-3) on Sunday and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Harrison is a great addition for the Lions."Tell him to take his time getting there," Carroll said.Second-year pro Dalvin Tomlinson and rookie B.J. Hill will handle the Giants' tackle spots, backed up by veterans Josh Mauro and John Jenkins. Rookie RJ McIntosh has started practicing after spending the season on the non-football injury list."It's always weird seeing people go," said Tomlinson, who was mentored by Harrison after he was drafted in the second round last year. "That's just the nature of the business. I know he (Harrison) is going to ball wherever he goes. I just have to step up my game and make sure the rest of the D-line is ready Sunday."Russell Wilson goes without rushing attempt for first time in his Seahawks career The Seattle Seahawks lost 33-31 to the Los Angeles Rams, but this was by far the most impressive performance by the offense all season. Seattle’s running game , famously moribund last season, has come alive over the past two games. Chris Carson had an impressive 116 yards on 19 carries, while Mike Davis chipped in 68 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown. Even Tyler Lockett had a 6-yard carry on a pitch.Notably absent from the running game box score? Russell Wilson.Yes, for the first time in Wilson’s 113 games (101 regular season, 12 postseason) with the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson did not run the ball even once. Not by design — he absolutely had opportunities to keep on read-option plays but chose not to — and not through scrambles. Zero rushes Youth Doug Baldwin Jersey , zero yards. Now there is an asterisk here in that he had two rushing attempts for -1 yard against the Dallas Cowboys, but one was a kneeldown and the other was the fumbled exchange with Rashaad Penny. This does however mark the official “0” in the stat sheet for #3.Through five games, Wilson has just 11 attempts for 42 yards. He has been battling a hamstring injury, but he sure looked fine when running downfield to help block for his running backs. The season is still young, but it sure doesn’t look like the 2012-2014 era of Wilson running/scrambling is coming back any time soon, if ever.

After a couple of weeks of being spoiled for choice , there aren’t many Jets who earned a spot on the list this week. The Jets leader in scrimmage yards was Trenton Cannon with 73, and most of his yardage came on a single pass due to a bust in coverage. I can’t blame anyone for this loss, however. The Vikings are just a much more talented team with a solid coaching staff, they will be legitimate Super Bowl contenders. The Jets just got outclassed, and while I would have loved an upset, I more or less assumed I wouldn’t get it. Some weeks, these stickers are fully earned. Some weeks, including this one in particular, they just fall to anyone who did something, anything positive. Let’s talk about those guys:Bronze Star: CB Darryl Roberts (11 tackles , 2 PDs)The Vikings clearly targeted Roberts from the beginning with the knowledge that 2 of the Jets top 3 corners were out in this game. Overall, I think Roberts did a pretty good job considering he was up against Diggs and Thielen regularly and Kirk Cousins just kept trying to beat him. He gave up a big touchdown early, but his coverage was actually not bad on the play. After that, he led the team in tackles by a wide margin, made a few good plays on the ball, and even had a TFL against the incredibly shifty Diggs 1 on 1. He wasn’t spectacular, but there were no spectacular Jets this week. At least he was involved in the game.Silver Star: CB Morris Claiborne (3 tackles)There really isn’t much to say about Claiborne because Cousins repeatedly picked on Roberts and ignored receivers covered by Claiborne. He gave up a touchdown, though he tipped the ball and unfortunately it wobbled the right way to allow for a good concentration catch. I’m honestly just searching for anything positive to say about these guys, this was a thorough beat down. Everyone more or less played mediocre, but at least Claiborne did that against some very talented players.Gold Star: K Jason Myers (1 for 1 on field goals , 2 for 2 on extra points, 2 touchbacks)The fact that a kicker with 1 field goal is topping this list tells you everything you need to know about the game. The fact that he’s the winner in back to back weeks could tell you a lot about this team. The fact that he now leads the team in points on this list more or less confirms that widespread change is needed next year. To his credit, a 55 yard kick in the swirling winds is pretty impressive. Dan Bailey, among the NFL’s most accurate kickers of all time, missed a chip shot in that game, so Myers impressed me quite a bit. He’s definitely exceeded expectations, and this week he was the only player I can honestly say played well. Everyone else more or less made me hurl obscenities at the screen. So there you have it, seven weeks in and the table stands:Jason Myers 6 points (2 gold)Jamal Adams 5 points (2 silver, 1 bronze)Quincy Enunwa 4 points (1 gold, 1 bronze)Darron Lee 4 points (2 silver)Morris Claiborne 3 points (1 bronze , 1 silver)Isaiah Crowell 3 points (1 gold)Henry Anderson 3 points (1 gold)Avery Williamson 3 points (1 gold)Andre Roberts 3 points (1 gold)Sam Darnold 2 points (1 silver)Leonard Williams 2 points (1 silver)Bilal Powell 2 points (2 bronze)Robby Anderson 1 point (1 bronze)Darryl Roberts 1 point (1 bronze) All shadows of clouds the sun cannot hideLike the moon cannot stop oceanic tide; But a hidden star can still be smilingAt night’s black spell on darkness, beguiling— Munia KhanPro Football Focus is out with several rankings after the first nine weeks of the NFL season. Rankings of all starting quarterbacks with enough snaps, rankings of the top rookies, and rankings of all 32 NFL offensive lines all came out today.Let’s dispense with the distasteful stuff first and save the best for last.PFF rates the New York Jets offensive line 25th in the NFL, and aims its ire directly at one of our own favorite targets, Spencer Long:Oof. Not good.Next up: the quarterbacks. PFF has 30 NFL quarterbacks with enough snaps to qualify for ranking. Sam Darnold ranks - you guessed it - 30th and last among the league’s starting quarterbacks. In separate rookie quarterback rankings, PFF also ranks Darnold 4th and last among the four rookie quarterbacks with significant playing time. Double oof.But let’s not dwell on the negatives, shall we. PFF ranks all of the rookies in the running for rookie of the year. While only ten were ranked numerically, and no Jets qualified there, another 15 were lumped together in an honorable mention grouping. There is where we find Jets tight end Chris Herndon. Honorable mention may not sound all that great , but for a 4th round pick to rank in the top 25 rookies, particularly at tight end, a position notorious for difficult transitions in the NFL, isn’t too bad at all.Well done Chris Herndon. In another lost Jets season we can at least celebrate a hidden star, raging against the dying of the light.

Jets-Jaguars: Keys for the Jets to Pull Off the Upset Leonard Fournette is going to be a tremendous X-factor in this game - but in which direction? The Jaguars are 4-1 without him , averaging 82 more yards of offense when he is in sweatpants compared to when he is wearing a helmet and shoulder pads. However, that one loss was this past Sunday when the Jaguars only mustered 6 points on their own field in a loss to a Titans team hard-pressed for competent quarterback play. Fournette was obviously drafted to be the centerpiece of this offense. They want him to allow them to take care of the ball, control possession, and take pressure off of Blake Bortles to allow the defense to win football games. After their most recent loss, they need him to do those things now more than ever.Last season, Fournette struggled in his two games returning from injury, averaging 41.0 yards per game and 2.3 yards per carry. Is this something tangible that could continue, or simply a fluke?Either way, the Jets’ front absolutely needs to shut down Fournette and this run game to have a chance. If they can do that, and force Blake Bortles to carry the load, they could have a shot. The Jaguars are already down their starting left tackle in Cam Robinson and their starting center, Brandon Linder, should go but has been limited in practice this week. His loss or struggles through injury would be huge - the Jaguars are 7th in rush attempts up the middle this season and that’s without Fournette there for two games. Jacksonville led the league in rush attempts up the middle last season with 210, and touchdowns up the middle with 12, 4 more than any other team. Darron Lee and Avery Williamson need to keep up what they did last week against Cleveland in the run game. After combining for 1 run stuff over the first two weeks, they had 4 apiece against the Browns, a tremendous output. Steve McLendon has also been very much on his game thus far, playing excellent football up front. Those three in partciular really need to bring it to hold down Fournette and this Jaguars run game in the A gaps and straight up the gut. Since last season, the Jaguars are 1-4 when rushing for less than 100 yards and 13-4 when hitting the century mark. The Jets are 14th in rushing defense by yards per carry (3.9). That 3.9 average will have them much higher by the end of the season if they maintain it (due to early season inflation), but on the whole the Jets certainly are very much capable of being better than a middle-of-the-pack rush defense.Conversely, the Jets need to win the run game on offense, and fortunately run defense is the Achilles’ heel of this otherwise superb unit. The Jaguars allowed the 7th highest yards per carry average in 2017 and are middle of the road this season at 16th. To beat them, you have to take it outside of the tackles. It’s a similar gameplan that I thought the Jets needed to beat the Lions defense. They ended up carrying it out, running the ball outside plenty and having a lot of success when they did. The Jaguars are allowing 6.7 yards per attempt on rushes outside of the tackles this season, 29th in the league. Conversely, they were allowing only 2.7 yards per attempt otherwise, 4th best in the league. I really want to see the Jets integrate some tosses and use some stretch zone concepts to get the Jags defense moving lateral and give Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell the chances to utilize their elite big-play abilities. Let Eric Tomlinson and Jordan Leggett try to match their run blocking from Cleveland. Get Brandon Shell out in space. Since last year, the Jaguars are 5-7 when allowing 100 rush yards or more and 9-1 when allowing less than 100.The Jets are currently 25th in yards per rush at 3.7. The interior of this line must do a better job in the run game. This offense will be hard-pressed to produce without a running game for its rookie quarterback to lean on to attain high-leverage situations. There could barely be a tougher challenge than the one they are facing this week, but the Jets had an insane output running the ball on this same defense last year picking up 256 rushing yards, including two 60+ yard scores. Can they do it again?Turnovers are always extremely essential but it is even more crucial when you are facing a team that does not have the quarterback or offense to mitigate their own turnovers, and does have a defense that will very much force you to make mistakes and pay for them. Since last season, the Jaguars are 4-6 when forcing 1 turnover or less, and 10-2 when they force 2 or more. This component of the game is crucial and very worrying. The Jets lead the league in turnovers with 8. The Jaguars are still playing elite defense as they rank in second in scoring defense with only 44 points allowed, but they have only 3 takeaways New York Jets T-Shirt , including just one interception. They are way overdue for the takeaways to start flooding in. Could they ask for a better matchup than the league’s turnover leaders coming into their own house?I really want to see the Jets commit to the ground game and play very safe in this game. If the Jets can avoid turning the ball over a single time, I think they could have a good shot. Obviously, it’s crucial to actually have success on the ground and not just be stubborn with a “ground and pound” approach just for the novelty of it. Of course the Jets need to adjust and change things up if it isn’t working - something that this staff really needs to prove it can do. However, I think the best shot the Jets have going in is to emphasize forcing Blake Bortles to beat them without giving him an ounce of help, while focusing on beating the Jaguars defense where it is weakest. If the Jets are successful on the ground, 1-on-1 opportunities should open up outside. The defense will respect the run and receivers will be open downfield, even against this ridiculously talented secondary. It happened against Cleveland. Sam Darnold was just extremely gun-shy. If you are patient enough with the run game, and of course, successful enough, deep opportunities will present themselves. It is then up to the quarterback to take advantage, which Darnold struggled to do against Cleveland. On the other side, the Jets have a matchup they can win against this Jaguars offense. The Jets allowed a combined 37 points to the Lions and Dolphins offenses that have been much better than Jacksonville’s so far. Will the Jets play it safe?Blake Bortles has a weird knack for bouncing back victoriously after a rough game. He threw for only 155 yards on 34 attempts against Tennessee, 4.5 yards per attempt.Since 2015, Bortles has an 8-2 record in the game following an outing in which he threw for less than 5.0 yards per attempt. He was 4-0 in those games last year.Neal Sterling could be back this week. He’d give the Jets a legit receiving weapon at the position in the middle of the field and replace a struggling Chris Herndon. However, the Jags’ defense against tight ends has been one of their very most impressive achievements this year. The Jaguars have allowed the second fewest receiving yards to tight ends this year (the Jets are the only team that has allowed fewer). That’s having faced both Evan Engram and Rob Gronkowksi. Gronk collected 15 receiving yards on 4 targets. Among his 88 career games with at least 4 targets, that was tied for the fewest receiving yards he had ever gotten with at least that many looks.I’m really pumped to have Marcus Maye back. Doug Middleton has just been a beat slow back there, and has allowed a ton of production in the middle of the field. Having Maye back should not only provide a sizable upgrade in performance at the deep safety position, but also allow the Jets to feel more comfortable with Jamal Adams playing in the box. He thrives there. He makes a huge impact off the edge and defending the run. However, against Cleveland, the Jets tended to be exposed in the pass game when Adams wasn’t in coverage down the field. When he was in coverage, the Jets were getting overly exotic with their blitzes and were easily exposed as receivers found completely uncovered areas.Maye’s return finally brings this entire defense together the way the team envisioned it before the season. Finally having some extra rest as a unit and now completely whole, I’m excited to see what they are capable of. With all of the timely mistakes they’ve made, all of the coaching errors, you name it - the Jets have the league’s #2 defense so far according to Football Outsiders’ DVOA. The seeds of something are there. Can Todd Bowles allow them to grow? How are former Jets faring with their new teams? Note from John: If you are a Jets fan, there is probably a good chance you are familiar with the great Bent who has been a fixture on The Jets Blog for years and more recently started his own site, Jets Fix. It is with great pleasure that I tell you Bent is GGN’s newest contributor. His first article here is posted below........................................What’s done cannot be undone. However, there’s value in keeping close tabs on players once they’ve left the team. In fact, the most recent addition to the current roster - offensive lineman Alex Balducci - was released by the Jets last September, since which time he’s had a year on Washington’s practice squad and several months on their 90-man roster via a futures deal. This isn’t unique; many other players such as Braylon Edwards and Demario Davis have left the Jets and then returned to the team later on over the last several years. There’s also intrigue in terms of whether they might let someone with potential loose, only for them to flourish elsewhere. Defensive linemen Kerry Hyder, Jacquies Smith and Shelby Harris are good examples of this. Over the past three seasons, each of those has had at least one season with 5.5 sacks or more - a total that would have led the Jets in 2017.On the other end of the scale, while we may wish players like Davis or Austin Seferian-Jenkins well on their way out of the door, there’s a lingering hope that they won’t do so well that we’re left regretting their departure. Finally New York Jets Hats , there may be cases where we are rooting for the player to fail, especially if they’ve joined a rival. We’re going to be keeping track of anyone who has been on the Jets’ roster or practice squad since cutdown day last season so we can start to assess whether letting any of these players go was a mistake or a well-timed move. With the first round of preseason games in the books, let’s recap how each player that meets the above criteria fared in the first week, starting with the highest profile players and working our way down the list:Muhammad Wilkerson - DL, PackersWilkerson did not play in the Packers’ first preseason game. He is reportedly dealing with a minor groin injury but reports about his camp performance so far have mostly been positive and he returned to practice on Sunday.Demario Davis - LB, SaintsDavis started and saw some significant playing time in the Saints’ first preseason game. He made two tackles, including one run stop, and was credited with a pass defensed. It was reported that he wasn’t a lock to start, but that seems to be based on some standard training camp mixing-and-matching leading others to get first team reps.Austin Seferian-Jenkins - TE, JaguarsSeferian-Jenkins started and was in the game for a few series but didn’t make any impact as he wasn’t targeted. Based on reports out of Jacksonville, he seems to be having a decent camp.Chandler Catanzaro - PK, BucsCatanzaro had a late game-winner for the Bucs, but it wasn’t a great first game for him as he missed an extra point and a field goal. If he doesn’t win the job, could he be an option for the Jets with Cairo Santos struggling to get on the practice field?Bryce Petty - QB, DolphinsPetty didn’t do too badly, completing four of seven passes for 53 yards and a touchdown and also completing a pass for a two-point conversion which looked like it might be the winning score until Catanzaro’s late kick. However, he also had one interception and his roster chances don’t look too great as he was the fourth quarterback into the game.Jeremy Kerley - WR, BillsKerley has a shot at making a Bills roster that lacks depth at wide receiver despite the recent Corey Coleman trade. In the first preseason game, Kerley caught a 16-yard pass and fielded one punt. Most Bills writers seem to believe he’ll be the team’s primary slot receiver in 2018.Wesley Johnson - OL, LionsJohnson got off to a good start with the Lions as he was playing left guard with the second unit and sprung a 13-yard run with a good second level block. He got beaten for a hit and a couple of pressures later on though. His roster chances improved with an injury to Graham Glasgow in practice on Tuesday.Kony Ealy - DE, CowboysEaly got some playing time in the first preseason game, but failed to generate any statistics or record any pressure in a few series of work. Ealy has been so underwhelming off the edge in camp so far that the Cowboys are experimenting with him at defensive tackle instead.Julian Stanford - LB, BillsStanford was in on one tackle and had a quarterback hit, but he was penalized twice for illegal contact and an illegal hit and also gave up two 20-yard pass plays. Stanford is in the mix for a roster spot and helped his cause with an interception in practice earlier this week.Freddie Bishop - OLB, LionsBishop had a productive first game as he registered five tackles including a couple of run stops and had a couple of pressures off the bench. However, he lost contain on one outside run. He seems to be having a good camp, based on reports.Damore’ea Stringfellow - WR, SeahawksStringfellow has apparently been impressive in camp with Seattle, but he only had one catch for 15 yards in their first preseason game.Jojo Natson - WR, RamsNatson caught two short passes for 14 yards and showed some flashes in the return game, including a 29 yard punt return. He ended up averaging 14 yards per on four returns and 23 yards on seven kickoffs.Korren Kirven - OL, CowboysKirven saw some late game action but didn’t impress much as he had a false start and was beaten a couple of times in pass protection. He seems like a long shot.Bucky Hodges - TE, SteelersHodges hasn’t been in Pittsburgh very long and didn’t get much playing time on offense in his first preseason game with them. He wasn’t targeted. The Steelers are banged up at tight end but he still only has an outside shot at making their roster.Jeremy Langford - RB, MiamiLangford only just joined Miami last week and didn’t see any action in their first preseason game.Edmond Robinson - LB New York Jets Hoodie , ArizonaRobinson had two tackles on defense, one on a short pass and one on a run stuff. He also added a special teams tackle in punt coverage. He’s missed some practice time this week, though.Geoff Gray - OL, BrownsGray only played late in the fourth quarter, seeing action at right guard. He gave up one pressure and allowed his man to stuff a run.Akeem Judd - RB, PackersJudd only recently joined the Packers, but got some work in last week’s game, busting an 11-yard run on his best play. His other five carries generated just eight yards though.Jeremy Cash - S, CardinalsCash’s first preseason performance began well, but ended badly. He scored a touchdown on a 12-yard fumble return and was credited with two tackles on a run stuff and a third down stop on a Geno Smith scramble. He was also in on a special teams tackle. Unfortunately, he was carted off with a season-ending knee injury late in the third quarter and has since been waived/injured.Michael Hunter - CB, BroncosHunter saw action in the second half of Denver’s preseason opener and was credited with two tackles, both on running plays, but was called for pass interference on a deep throw to rookie Jeff Badet. He’s on the bubble, according to local media.Travaris Cadet - RB, BillsIt’s good to see Cadet back on the field after some injury issues, but he didn’t make much of an impact in the Bills’ first game as he rushed for four yards on two carries and caught a two-yard pass. Cadet was considered in the driving seat for the number three running back role, but that spot is not secure yet.Anthony Johnson - DL, ColtsJohnson came off the bench in the Colts’ first preseason game and recorded two tackles including a tackle in the backfield as he rallied to the ball on a short pass. He’s missed time this week with a back injury. Will Tye - NE, PatriotsTye is still with New England having been picked up by them last year. He had two catches for six yards in their first preseason game. Tye has had some issues with dropping passes in practice and is therefore considered a long-shot.Marcus Murphy - RB, BillsMurphy had a good day in the Bills first preseason game, doing most of his damage in the first half. He rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown on seven carries and added 30 yards on four receptions, including a 15-yarder. He also returned one punt five yards. He’s gunning for Cadet’s spot as the number three running back.Kalif Raymond - WR, GiantsRaymond didn’t record a catch, although he tied for the team-lead in total snaps was unsuccessfully targeted twice. He also returned a couple of punts and a kickoff but without much success.Jason Vander Laan - TE, PanthersVander Laan looked sharp on a 22-yard catch down the seam and did a decent job as a blocker off the bench. He’s in the mix to be the Panthers’ third tight end.MiscellaneousDL Claude Pelon signed with Tennessee but then tore his ACL a few days later;TE Zach Conque signed with Jacksonville but was released in June;DT Lord Hyeamang was signed by Seattle after his release by the Jets, but they released him earlier this month. He was just signed by the Rams on Sunday;New Orleans signed cornerbacks Robert Nelson and Marcus Williams on Sunday; andQB Christian Hackenberg, already released by the Raiders, was signed by the Eagles on Sunday.Of course there are still several recent departures who aren’t currently with a team, such as Bruce Carter, Courtney Upshaw and Jalin Marshall. We’ll add these to the list if they get a deal.

Mumblings of The Village Idiot: Nice win Black Austin Seferian-Jenkins Jersey , let’s move on Sometimes you have to let the 24 hour rule extend just a bit longer. So here we are, closing in on 48 hours since the Jaguars turned a metaphorical corner. No longer can we see the 8-8 years of Jack Del Rio. The smell of the Gus Bradley era is barely noticeable. Beating the New England Patriots was an important step in showing this team is good, as opposed to speculating on that belief. And it means very little in the grand scheme of things. The fans might want to stay on the mountain top a bit longer, but for the players it is time to move on.The league is littered with memories of teams who could not finish their meals. For example, ask the 2003 Minnesota Vikings or the 2009 Denver Broncos. Both of these teams started their aforementioned season 6-0, only to miss the playoffs with 9-7 and 8-8 records respectively. This Jaguars team does not appear to be falling for early season hype. The head coach will not let them.In his post-game speech, Doug Marrone was very clear what this game meant, and who this team is. They are team that needs to focus. They are not a team concerned with “statement games”. He fully expects to see the Patriots down the road, and whether this was a win or a loss for the Jaguars it is just the second game of the season. This Jaguars team has a year of experience under their belt, and those who did not get a glimpse of the promised land last year are buying into the culture that is being built.Doug closed with telling the players to enjoy the win, but to prepare themselves to correct mistakes and get ready for a divisional opponent. Some brief mumblings.Mumble 1I am tired of the “ignorant South” framing from folks up North, especially from a city like Boston. Here is what Chad Finn of the Boston Globe had to say about TIAA Bank stadium, and the Jaguars fans in it, after a Patriots score in the 2nd half. For those of you not familiar with this reference, “The Hills Have Eyes” is a movie set in Nevada where a family comes across a family of cannibalistic mutants.Even our beloved New Englander Rick Ballou knows those journalists up there are petty and annoying. You can reach Chad on twitter. But before you say anything mean to him , he also thinks we looked like a Super Bowl team. As much as ignorant southerners can think.Mumble 2Dakota Randall, writing for NESN (New England Sports Network), gives us this gem.Dakota title the article “Jaguars Talked A Bunch Of Trash After Beating Patriots — In September”, leveraging a variety of quotes from Jaguars player who expressed noting more than confidence in light of the victory. The framing of how the Jaguars responded to winning as something akin to “winning the Super Bowl” is such sour grapes. It is the idea that no one other than one’s own team can celebrate, or possibly that the very act of celebrating discloses someone who lacks character or virtue. It is actually a compliment to your team, Dakota, that it means that much to us.Mumble 3If you are wondering why this “winning the Super Bowl” thing has any legs, here is a quote from Tashaun Gipson. Feel free to NOT take it out of context.Mumble 4Dear first-half Donte Moncrief, I am sorry for all the bad things I said about you.Dear second-half Donte Moncrief, I take it back.Mumble 5I love what Doug Marrone said about how he goes about challenging calls on the field. To paraphrase, Doug refuses to offer up names because he does not want them to face any grief if the challenge fails, and if it succeeds he wants to take all the credit. We are so damn lucky to have move on from “We are all getting better!” to “No one is a backup. I expect everyone to step in and start when called on.”Oh, and Doug, I am so, so sorry for all the mean things I said about you when you challenged that call.Mumble 6If you put a gun to my head and asked me what the top three plays of the game were , here you go, in descending order3. Dante Fowler strip and recovery.2. Corey Grant does not block in the back on the Dede Westbrook fourth quarter touchdown....and the winner...Doug Marrone challenges the spot. My game changer. If he does not get that, my gut tells me the momentum shift and the “here we go again” feeling would have enveloped us.Not being at the game, very curious what those who did go think about what the mood in the stadium would have been had it not been reversed.Mumble 7Last mumble (as I drool into my spit cup).I hate the Titans. I am not over 1999. I will never be over 1999 until the Jaguars win a Super Bowl. I can stomach losing to the Patriots. They are a dynasty. They have Brady. Do I believe they were the better team last year? No, but I get how the young upstarts, and their coaching staff, might have balked on the big stage. It is not unlike 1996.But 1999 was ours, and we blew it.Beating New England was nice, but damn it I want to sweep the Titans. It is that important. And for the love of Zeus, can we not lose to Blaine Gabbert. AGAIN!=====================================================I am not doing a post-game music post (it obviously was a bad idea). Instead, I will add it here. Some Nine Inch Nails for you. Myles Jack squeezed into his locker stall, his leather chair pushed to one side, his sweaty clothes scattered across the floor. He had Jacksonville's season opener against the New York Giants running through his mind, so the mere mention of New England caught him off guard."Oh, we're going way back?" Jack asked last week.Just eight months. Just to the team's final game of the 2017 season. Just to the closest the small-market franchise has even been to the Super Bowl.Just to one play Youth Leonard Fournette Jersey , really. The Play, actually. With the Patriots (1-0) and Jaguars (1-0) meeting again Sunday in Jacksonville, it's sure to be a topic of conversation outside 鈥?maybe even inside 鈥?the locker rooms. The Jags allowed a third-and-18 conversion in the fourth quarter of the AFC championship game at New England in late January, a lapse that was instrumental in the Patriots overcoming a 10-point deficit and one that still haunts Jacksonville's players and coaches more than 250 days later."I was just starting to forget about that play," Jack said. "I can't believe I have to relive that."The Jaguars did just about everything right through three-plus quarters against the defending Super Bowl champions. The defense pressured Tom Brady, sacking him three times . The offense controlled the clock, keeping the three-time league MVP on the sideline. Together, they built a lead and stretched it to 20-10 with a field goal early in the final frame. Jack even forced a fumble on the next possession that could have been a touchdown. He was ruled down by contact, and the Jags followed with a three-and-out series.Everything started to unravel a few minutes later. With 10:49 remaining and the Pats facing third-and-18 at their own 25-yard line, the Jaguars liked their chances 鈥?and for good reason. Jacksonville's vaunted defense ranked fifth in the league in preventing third-down conversions of 16 yards or longer. The unit featured six Pro Bowl selections, two speedy linebackers, the league's top-rated secondary and arguably the best pass rush in franchise history. The Jags had few, if any, holes on that side of the ball.In third-down situations of 16 yards or longer, they had stopped opponents short of first downs 17 times in 18 tries during the regular season.None of those came against Brady. The New England quarterback handled a low snap in a shotgun formation Youth Myles Jack Jersey , took a five-step drop to buy extra time, shuffled left to avoid Dareus' rush and then threw a low pass to Danny Amendola in the middle of the field that he hauled in for a 21-yard gain."I remember how big the play was," Patriots running back James White recalled. "I don't remember the exact play call or what-not, but it was a big play. I mean, Danny always comes up with plays like that, finds the right spot in zone. We had good protection; the offensive line did a great job. Tom did a good job finding him. We needed that play in order to get to where we wanted to be, so it was huge play."New England scored four plays later , seizing the momentum from the unlikely conversion and leaving the Jags reeling.Players, coaches and fans point to other reasons for the Patriots' comeback: Brady being Brady; officials ruling Jack down; Pro Bowl defensive linemen Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue getting injured; two busted coverages near the goal line that resulted in touchdowns; and the offense's inability to run the ball late. But the one that sticks out for everyone is the third-and-long play."It still haunts you a little bit, but just like every game, you learn good things and bad things," Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash said. "Would you change things? Would you not change things? I do not think one play determines the outcome of a ball game. I think if you do, you are crazy. Obviously, we would have liked to get off the grass there."Wash called for a zone scheme, "Two Palms" to be precise. It was a calculated move based on the belief that most of Brady's explosive passing plays come against man coverage. After the game Youth Dede Westbrook Jersey , All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey questioned why the Jags played so much zone in the second half, noting how Amendola found holes for the key reception as well as two touchdowns. On the third-down catch, Amendola ran a seam route that started between the left-side numbers and the hash marks. He curled behind Jack, who had taken a few steps right to cover White out of the backfield, and in front of safety Tashaun Gipson.Gipson, who missed practice during the week because of a foot injury, took blame for the reception."That is just one of them things where you got relaxed," said Gipson, adding that he thought the team's pass rush would get to Brady. "I am not going to lie to you. I told myself I would never answer this question again. But that play right there, I would be lying if I said that didn't keep me up all offseason. Got lax."Now the Jaguars are left to deal with The Play forever and relive it this week."Now you're making me sad," Jack said.

  • Youth Jalen Ramsey JerseyDatum14.02.2019 02:35

The Jacksonville Jaguars start the second quarter of the season at raucous Arrowhead Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs at 1:00pm EST.For anyone not traveling to Kansas City for the game Youth Jalen Ramsey Jersey , we have a treat in the booth this week:UNIFORM WATCH: Debut of new white tops and black trousers for Sunday.Ed. Note: YaaaaaaaassssssssssOpponentRiding into week five with an undefeated record, the Chiefs are working on a short week after overcoming a ten-point fourth quarter deficit on the road against divisional rival Denver Broncos. The result probably works in favor of the Jaguars as the Chiefs will roll into this game with an air of invincibility, which is always dangerous from a sports psychology standpoint.Offensively, the Chiefs are playing chess while the rest of the NFL is playing checkers. Patrick Mahomes is 5-0 in his career as an NFL starter and has seemingly taken his Big 12 offense with him from Texas Tech as he is currently on pace for 56 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. When you factor in his computer-like processing, quick release, arm strength, and improvisational skills outside the pocket, Mahomes becomes almost impossible to stop and unlikely to contain. Combine these rare attributes with offensive weapons that include Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, and Kareem Hunt out of the backfield, and the Chiefs are a recipe for explosive play headaches. There will be times in this game where Todd Wash will scheme up the ideal play call, it will be perfectly executed Womens Keelan Cole Jersey , and Mahomes will still find a way to complete a pass, which will be frustrating for fans and players alike. I expect the Jags to put Tashaun Gipson in man coverage on Kelce for most of the game and play press man on the outside to take advantage of their size at the cornerback position, jamming the receivers off the line to give the defensive line an extra second to apply pressure. This can be an extremely boom-or-bust game in regards to the defense compiling some sacks and takeaways, but their league-leading 14 points allowed per game will likely take a hit this week. My guy to keep an eye on this week? Tight end Demetrius Harris. While everyone in the country will be tuning in to see the top ranked offense against the top ranked defense, it’s actually the other units that will most likely decide this game. The Chiefs defense has been fairly miserable so far this season, allowing a league-high 451 total yards and 28 first downs per game. Nathanial Hackett and the Jaguars will need to continue to throw on first down to open up the run and allow T.J. Yeldon to add to Chiefs’ 5.7 allowed yards per carry average. Coming off a career high in passing yards, Blake Bortles will need to keep the momentum going against a secondary that likely won’t be able to keep up with the speed that the Jaguars have at wide receiver, and expect the Chiefs to attack with zone coverages to take away the Jaguars’ staple crossing routes. As poorly as the Chiefs defense has performed across the board, here is one interesting tidbit to keep in mind – they currently rank first in third down defense, and when the defense has had to make a stop to win the game (like a three and out to give Mahomes the ball back in the fourth quarter on Monday), they’ve answered the bell. For some thoughts from the Chiefs’ persepctive, check out Ryan O’Bleness’ crossover piece with Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride.StorylinesOffense wins games, defense wins championships. Is that adage true?Well Womens T.J. Yeldon Jersey , in the last seven top ranked offense versus top ranked defense regular season match ups, the offensive team has won six of them. Not great for the Jaguars. With that being said, the NFL hasn’t really seen a defense like this in almost a decade. The Chiefs are also benefactors of playing in the loudest stadium in the NFL, and in a deafening environment like Arrowheard, the Jaguars are going to need be on the same page in regards to communication on the offensive line and snap counts. This is where it is crucial that veteran center and communication captain Brandon Linder suits up this week, and hopefully Hackett has a plan in place where they can mitigate the noise with silent snap counts. Don’t expect too many “Sunday, Sunday” (hand claps) from Bortles this week. The other major storyline for this week is the weather forecast, which is calling for 100% chance of rain. I can’t remember the last time Blake Bortles has had to play in extremely rainy conditions (perhaps someone can assist on this in the comments), but he struggled mightily last year in cold and windy conditions on the road in Tennessee. Conversely, Mahomes’ arm is so strong that it shouldn’t matter whether he is playing in rain or shine. Logically, the rain should favor the Chiefs, who can take advantage of some poor punts on special teams and benefit from the absence of Leonard Fournette to churn out tough, ugly yards. Key matchupsJalen Ramsey vs. Tyreek HillI understand that Ramsey won’t be traveling with Cheetah and they won’t be single-matched often Womens Yannick Ngakoue Jersey , but the back-and-forth diatribe this week will make this must-see TV. My biggest concern when they are matched up is how aggressively Ramsey plays curl and hook routes, anchoring and driving to break and make a play on the football. This mentality can really make Ramsey susceptible to a Hill double move, and if Ramsey bites, it will be over.Austin Seferian-Jenkins vs. Anthony HitchensNo Eric Berry yet this season means that the Chiefs have struggled mightily against tight ends so far this season. ASJ isn’t having a huge year statistically, but this might be his break out game for the Jaguars offense, and I would expect Hackett to try and attack the seams early while the Chiefs back seven are overly-concerned with short crossers underneath.Dede Westbrook vs. Orlando ScandrickScandrick has taken most of the slot reps in nickel and he has not played very well since signing his one-year deal in Kansas City. His lack of foot speed at this stage in his career has been glaring, and it wouldn’t be surprising in the least if the Chiefs match up their best cornerback in Kendall Fuller, who was one of the league’s best nickels in Washington, on Westbrook to even up the match up. Of course, doing this will weaken them on the perimeter for Donte Moncrief and Keelan Cole to challenge deep against one of the weaker starting safety duos in the league.Calais Campbell vs. Mitchell SchwartzSchwartz has played like the best right tackle in football across the first four weeks and Calais Campbell will have his hands full in trying to get to the quarterback. I would expect Campbell to slide inside next to Malik Jackson a ton this week in obvious passing situations and give Dante Fowler Jr.’s speed a go against Schwartz. The Jaguars will need to bring a ton of pressure to make Mahomes uncomfortable to have a chance. Josh Wells vs. Justin HoustonJosh Wells has performed admirably so far in relief duty for the injured Cam Robinson, but he hasn’t necessarily squared off against a world-beater edge rusher to this point. That will change this week against Justin Houston, and Dee Ford is no slouch either in the event they flip their outside linebackers. Ford has been dealing with a groin injury this season, but he was their most effective rusher last week. This will undoubtedly be Wells’ biggest test of the season.Final predictionI can hear Alfie’s voice now — “How are the Chiefs supposed to score 30 points?” I don’t know Cheap Cam Robinson Jersey , but I wouldn’t be surprised if they do this week. I think the Jaguars will struggle containing Mahomes in the pocket similar to Marcus Mariota a few weeks ago, and the only difference is Mahomes has a howitzer of an arm compared to Mariota’s water gun. My feeling is that the Jaguars offense will get the ball in a two-minute drill situation where they need a touchdown and Bortles and company won’t be able to overcome the crowd noise and inclement weather.I think Chiefs win 30-24. Let’s answer some questions ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ matchup against the Tennessee Titans!John from Jacksonville, FLQ: What type of game plan should the Jaguars use against the Titans?A: On offense, air it out with the passing game. Deshaun Watson was able to throw for nearly 10 yards per pass attempt and that helped open up their run game. The Titans are vulnerable to giving up big chunks of yards on single plays through the air, but it’s important that once you get near the red zone you get points out of it. The Houston Texans got within the 40-yard line on two of their first three possessions and missed a field goal or saw an interception. Get up on the Titans early and then the defense can pounce. Shut down Corey Davis. Right now he’s seen a full 33 percent of all targets in the passing game through the first two weeks. Erasing him should be a priority for this defense.Jeremy from Boca Raton, FLQ: Other than the Kansas City Chiefs, I feel like we win every game on the schedule. Maybe with Carson Wentz back we add the Philadelphia Eagles to the list. Can this team pull off 16-0?A: The biggest hurdle standing in the way of the Jaguars isn’t Pat Mahomes or Carson Wentz — it’s Blake Bortles. If he can consistently play the way he did last week, there’s not a team we lose to on the schedule, with or without Leonard Fournette.David from Aguadila, Puerto RicoQ: Who gets paid first — Jalen Ramsey, Myles Jack, or Yannick Ngakoue?A: They’ll all get paid about the same time, but in order of priority Cheap Myles Jack Jersey , I think Jalen is the most important.James from West Liberty, NYQ: If you’re Tom Coughlin or Dave Caldwell, are you reaching out to Joe Thomas and seeing if he’s interested in coming out of retirement?A: Joe Thomas has lost over 50 pounds since retiring.Fred from Birmingham, ALQ: Jameis or Bortles? A: Bortles, easily.Colt from Pittsburgh, PAQ: What scares you the most (if anything) about this Week 3 matchup against the Titans? I hate the term “trap game” in the NFL but... this seems like a trap game.A: It doesn’t feel like a trap game to me, but the Titans had our number last year and really frustrated Bortles in two awful games last year. I can’t shake this nagging feeling in the back of my head that gives them a chance despite the Jaguars being the better team. All in all, I think we win by two scores on Sunday.Gabe from Chapel Hill, NCQ: Give it to me straight... how much is the loss of Cam Robinson going to hurt?A: Josh Wells had a decent game in relief of Cam last week. He’s not as good as Robinson at the point of attack, but he recovers well. Get back to me after the next two weeks and we’ll see how Wells is when he has time to prepare like a starting left tackle and when opponents game plan for him specifically.Mike from Eagan, MNQ: When are you going to stop typing “y’all” in social media posts and articles?A: Never, y’all.

Bjorkstrand finished the flurry with a top-shelf tally, his ninth of the season.Foligno, playing in his 400th game with the Blue Jackets, put back a rebound in the third period for his 11th goal, and Matt Calvert made it 6-0 with a rocket from the slot on a power play at 9:45 , his seventh of the season.Kyle Palmieri was credited with a goal with 3 1/2 minutes left in the game to spoil Bobrovsky’s shutout bid, although the video replay showed it was tipped in by Jenner as he fell in the crease.”The better team won,” New Jersey coach John Hynes said. ”The harder team, the more competitive team, the more prepared team won.
